ILLFONIC DEVELOPER UPDATE
A MESSAGE ABOUT THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE OF ILLFONIC GAMES
It’s an incredibly exciting time for us at IllFonic. We’ve had the privilege of shipping and supporting titles based on iconic franchises fans around the world truly love as well as introducing players to brand new characters with our own original IP. We’re grateful to everyone who’s supported our games, shared kind words, and jumped online to get some matches in with our amazing community.
Watching players connect with Predator: Hunting Grounds, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Arcadegeddon, Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, and now Halloween has been so rewarding for us, and we know players are eager to know what’s in store for the games they love. As we reflect on the opportunities we’ve had to bring unique experiences to players since 2007, we wanted to take a moment to discuss what players can expect from previously released and upcoming IllFonic titles.
Halloween
As many of you horror fans are likely aware, we recently announced that Halloween will be launching on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on September 8, 2026. This is a dream project for our team based on one of the most important horror franchises of all time and we were thrilled to partner with PlayStation to give players their first look at official gameplay during this month’s State of Play.
While our gameplay reveal provides a better look at our asymmetrical horror sandbox title and provides a glimpse into the horrifying power of Michael Myers, it only scratches the surface of what awaits players in Haddonfield when Halloween releases. We can’t wait to share more details about our gameplay, key characters, and the singleplayer story mode at a later date, but for now, you’ll just have to sit tight and keep your eyes peeled for the Boogeyman.
However, if you’re looking for more information to chew on in the meantime, be sure to check out the official Halloween website and the collection of hub posts our team has crafted, including an interview with the OG Shape himself, Nick Castle. We’d also highly recommend you follow @HalloweenTVG on socials, so you don’t miss any key information as it releases.
Predator: Hunting Grounds
It’s been an awesome year for Predator fans. Between the release of Predator: Killer of Killers, the upcoming release of Predator: Badlands, and the ongoing support for Predator: Hunting Grounds, there’s been no shortage of Yautja-packed action. The Predator fandom has been going strong for decades at this point, and we’ve been honored to be a part of this storied universe.
Predator: Hunting Grounds launched back in 2020, which means we’re celebrating over five years of tense jungle hunts with all you. Following our current-gen release on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 last fall we’ve released new Predators (including the Oni from Killer of Killers), new weapons (including the Chain Whip grapple), and new gear. Seeing your energy to these additions and the outpouring of support for original predators like the Witch has meant a great deal to the team.
So what’s next for the Hunting Grounds? Alongside our announcement of the Oni Predator coming to the game, we also shared concept art of another legendary warrior from Killer of Killers. We are hard at work ensuring this fierce combatant lives up to his legacy. Additionally, we're working to get test servers online for Predator: Hunting Grounds that will allow players to try gameplay/balance changes, provide feedback, and get sneak peaks of new content. This will also be the perfect opportunity for Fireteam members to test out a brand new way to traverse the jungle.
Arcadegeddon
While we’ve been fortunate enough to bring many beloved franchises to the world of video games, Arcadegeddon is an original IllFonic IP set in a vivid neon playspace. Our third-person cooperative roguelike shooter originally launched in early access in 2021, and we were given the chance to shape the game with our community. Player feedback and enthusiasm helped foster a passionate playerbase that rallied around saving Gilly’s Arcade.
Earlier this year, we transitioned Arcadegeddon to a free-to-play title. This enables more players than ever before to dive into the arcade and try the game for themselves. To supplement the free-to-play release, we also added a suite of new weapons, cosmetics, emotes, balance changes, and quality of life features to ensure the experience stays satisfying from run to run.
Our team is currently working on a fresh batch of new content for Arcadegeddon. We’ll have more specifics to share in the coming months, but we aim to add additional gameplay and cosmetic items. We’re also adding FSR support to consoles very soon, which will improve overall performance on those platforms. An enormous thanks to everyone who’s joined us in Gilly’s!
Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game
In June we dropped our Anniversary Update for Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game. This patch included gameplay/balance adjustments, new challenges + rewards, new cosmetics, and the one and only Klownzilla in a new Klowntality. We had a large number of new and returning players join us for the Anniversary Update, and it was undeniably special celebrating one year of cocooning in Crescent Cove with the community.
Since our last update, we’ve spent a great deal of time combing through your feedback regarding these changes and requests for new features. We genuinely appreciate all the thoughtful responses from our players, and it warms our hearts knowing how much our zany Klown multiplayer title means to fans.
For the players wondering what the future holds for Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, we wanted to reinforce that balance updates, bug fixes, and ongoing support will continue. We wouldn’t want to leave Shorty hanging, we know how feisty he can get.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

Over the past few years, we've been incredibly honored to see so many talented Ghosts and Ghostbusters grace The Firehouse. This community never hesitates to answer the call and that infectious enthusiasm keeps us eager to play with all of you. We’d also be remiss in not mentioning the potent creative talent bursting that has been repeatedly demonstrated by Ghostbusters fans during our #SummerOfSlimer, Doppelbuster, and other contests.
From Samhain to the Boogieman, our journey has been filled with so many special spectral memories following our launch in 2022. However, as our Containment Unit reaches capacity, we wanted to share that most of our team has shifted its focus away from creating new content for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed for the time being.
Our one-of-a-kind Ghostbusting game will remain playable, and we’ll continue to support the game by addressing any technical issues that may arise. From everyone here at IllFonic, thanks so much for sharing your love of Ghostbusters with us and we look forward to celebrating Ghostbusters Day with everyone next year!
Thank You
To anyone who’s ever played an IllFonic game - thank you. We can’t stress enough how important your support, enthusiasm, and feedback are to how we shape our titles and ongoing content plans. We’ve been floored by the positive response to Halloween and can’t wait to make players proud by delivering something worthy of the legendary IP.
We fully understand that players have their favorite IllFonic titles and that sometimes means they want more content for those games as fast as possible. As an independent studio supporting several multiplayer titles and actively developing our next major release scheduled for 2026, we’re tirelessly working to continue support across our games on timelines that are sustainable for our team.
Thanks for taking the time to check out our IllFonic Developer Update. We hope this has given you a better idea of what to expect from our titles in the coming months. We have never been more excited about what the future holds and we’re looking forward to sharing it with our passionate communities.
